The stone evolution

Mediterranean Quartz: Quartz agglomerate

Mediterraneo Quartz:
quartz agglomerate

Quartz agglomerate is a material produced in the form of slabs of 304 x 140 cm using Bretonstone® system technology and a special process of “vacuum vibrocompression process”. The slabs are manufactured by mixing pure quartz (about 94% in weight) with inert bonding agent (6%) and pigments.

Mediterraneo Quartz has the ideal characteristics for use in the sector of public and private furnishings.
Mediterraneo Quartz slabs preserve their own original physical-mechanical properties, which are:
•anti-scratch, wear resistant, chemical resistant, stain resistant, moisture resistant and hygienic thanks to the non-porous surface;
•high resistance to mechanical stresses substantially superior to that of natural stone such as compression,flexural, impact and thermal shock;
•absorption of liquids basically inexistent;
•high resistance to compression and flexion;
•uniformed colouring, indispensable in the field of furnishings for the creation of kitchen counters and bathroom tops and furnishings in general;
•easy maintenance (does not require the application of any kind of treatment);
•long-term availability;
•good dimensional and chromatic stability;
•vast range of colours to meet all possible needs

The smoothing and sandblasting of the surfaces to obtain brushed, surface is done mechanically with the appropriate equipment that carries out the mechanical working process needed to obtain the various finishes by removing part of the material.

Composition, finishing and treatment

of composite materials

Composition

The resin contained in the product Mediterraneo Quartz is not harmful, in fact it is suitable for areas used for the preparation of food. Since it is a completelynon-absorbent material, bacteria cannot grow on the surface.
It is produced in shiny slabs and also in opaque colours. There are also lines that are called ‘a spacco’. r-repellent treatment foreseen is with unpolished slabs (opaque or ‘a spacco’).

Tolerance

However, when two tops have to be placed side by side they are calibrated perfectly in the laboratory before being delivered to the client.
Slabs that are 1.2 cm thick weigh are around 30 kg per square metre; 2 cm-thick slabs weigh around 50 kg per square metre and 3 cm-thick slabs weigh around 75 kg per square metre.

Finishing

Smooth surface Mediterraneo Quartz slabs can be worked with an infinity of finishings, depending on the kind of material chosen and the marble cutter’s indications, have a thickness of 1.2, 2 or 3 cm, depending on the producer. This doesn’t mean it’s impossible to have edges of up to 10 cm by using a pasting operation of a 2 cm “veletta” of the same material to the slab, cut at 45° so it sticks perfectly to the surface and the cut and paste is practically invisible to the naked eye. There’s a production margin of +-1/2 mm.

Treatment

Mediterraneo Quartz does not need a hydro repellent treatment since its non-absorbent qualities are guaranteed by the raw material itself and not because of any chemical treatment. The only wate
